This is a 75% huacaya alpaca blended with 15% merino and 10% bamboo. The base color of this alpaca is actually GRAY! He’s an older guy we rescued about 7 years ago, so his fleece isn’t as fine as it was when he was young, but it isn’t terrible, and we’ve learned to blend a few things in to make it softer and shiny. This yarn would make for a fast and easy knit-up or crochet project for a scarf, gloves or even a hat. I don’t know if I’d make a sweater but I’m pretty sensitive to prickle factor (the “itchy” feeling many of us have when wearing a wool sweater) so your mileage may vary. The color reminds me of walking through the lavender fields in Oregon and in Australia with a dusky light purple color. Get it while you can…like the lavender season, this one won’t last long!
